A behind the scenes look into the branding of:
Our work with Red Hill started out with creating illustrative labels for their four core beers: Jane’s Blonde, Murph IPA, South Union Stout, and the Austin’s Amber. The client wanted each label to reflect the taste profile and the history behind each beer. We sat down and discussed what each beer meant and how the individuals who inspired each brew should be reflected in the artwork. In the end we created four distinct identities that work on an individual and group level.
We decided that these labels didn’t best reflect the Red Hill vibe. So the Red Hill beer labels you will see used in store today have a new, simplified look that you can see here. We decided to go with a smaller more casual label that will expose the silver beer can. Keep up with Red Hill on Instagram @redhillbrewing for info on their latest craft brews.

As time passed the brewery decided to update their current logo. They wanted it to transform while still maintaining the original essence of their symbol. View the original logo beside the update done by Cicada Studios below.

As you can see, the original title font was kept but the kerning was slightly adjusted. The three dots were replaced with a hop symbol and the horizontal lines were extended. “Brewing Company” was given an updated font that helps to balance the logo while still matching “Red Hill” in weight. Note the casual serifs and robust rounded caps. The original hint of texture on the lettering was intensified creating a casual/well-worn look. All these elements give the updated logo a grounded feeling that was a subtle but well executed update to the original.
We ended up updating the center hop again, creating the iconic Red Hill hop.
Mural Wall
